NEW YEAR MESSAGE OF THE PRESIDENT

According to Chinese tradition, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit. For EUROPADEL, an organisation full of enthusiasm that is still taking its first steps, 2011 is certainly a year full of objectives and of milestones to achieve. It is also important for the development of Padel in Belgium. But like Den Xiaoping said: black rabbit or white rabbit… the important thing is that it eats the carrot. And indeed the year starts full of carrots for EUROPADEL. The first good news is that the ASBL EUROPADEL has been legally registered. More specific news on the subject will follow by EUROPADEL's Treasurer, our dear Emilio. More carrots: weekly Thursday pachangas will soon re-start, with a Season Opening Pachanga on Thursday 24 February. Specific news will follow. As you all know, Pachangas Christmas Break was due to end beginning of February, but the freezing temperatures at our modern premises in Waterloo prolonged the break while awaiting better weather conditions. Last Monday evening certain members of EUROPADEL were forced to use the microwave at the clubhouse bar in order to de-freeze their tennis balls and continue playing. Staff from Guinness Book of Records was seen around the padel court but, after making several measurements, they confirmed that Yakutsk (Siberia) was still, by a close margin, beating Waterloo as the coldest city on earth. Finally, I am proud to announce that the Board of EUROPADEL has already started preparation of our famous Spring Padel Tournament, this time with separate Men and Women categories. It will take place from the 8 till the 15 May, hopefully with the support of our beloved sponsor BBVA, one of the top European banks. May the Lucky Rabbit bring more carrots upon EUROPADEL and all its Members.

L'année 2011 se présente pleine de défis pour EUROPADEL ainsi que pour le développement du padel en Belgique. 2011 est, pour certains Chinois, l'An de la Lièvre, tandis que pour autres, plus coquins,
ca serait l'An du Lapin. En tous cas les deux sont bons au four. Les carottes de Den Xiaoping, allez hop! Au four! Enfin quelques bonnes nouvelles: la ASBL EUROPADEL a été constituée, les Pachangas reprendront, après notre pause d'hibernation, le prochain 24 février avec porrón à gogo; et les Membres du Comité de Direction ont déjà entamé les travaux de préparation du tournoi de Printemps qui se déroulera, on espère bien, encore une fois avec le soutien de notre sponsor BBVA,
une banque à vrais vocation européenne. Que le Lapin Magique couvre de Bonheur EUROPADEL et
tous ces Membres!

Pero no hemos perdido el tiempo, nooo! Vuestra Directiva en pleno trabaja a destajo por el desarrollo del padel: la ASBL ya está constituida. Bien. Muy bien. Despega el padel en Bélgica. Olé!
